ThruBit’s® system runs within the protection of the drillstring to eliminate failed logging attempts and stuck or lost tools in tough logging conditions where conventional methods fail. Our Level 2 solution, used in wells where a single bad portion must be penetrated to get to the zone of interest, delivers real-time formation data virtually every time. It eliminates multiple conditioning trips for conventional logging, reduces logging time and provides a cost-effective alternative to logging while drilling (LWD). Our Portal™ bit reams past bad areas of the borehole, creating a pipe conduit to the formation to be logged. With the pipe positioned right below the problem zone, our SureLog™ tools, connected to the wireline and truck, are lowered through the pipe and out of the bit. Once total depth (TD) is reached, the logging tools are pulled back up, providing real-time formation data all the way back into the bit and out of the hole through the pipe. The pipe and bit can then be used to ream back to bottom, conditioning the hole to set casing and eliminating conditioning trips. |
